1 What Data Do We Collect About You?

As part of HUAWEI ID, we shall collect and use your personal data only for the purposes stated in this Statement. Personal data refers to any information that enables us to identify you as a user.

We will collect and process the following data:

Providing your date of birth, phone number, and email address is a prerequisite for creating a HUAWEI ID account. When the account is set up with an email address, the security phone number must be set. The security phone number is used solely to verify your identity and assist in resetting your password should you ever forget it. Without providing this data, you cannot create an account or use the service.

Please note that the date of birth can be used by services your log in to with your HUAWEI ID to determine, for example, which content and personal data processing practices are appropriate based on the user's age. Therefore, providing accurate date of birth information is crucial for enabling such services to protect the rights and interests of child and minor users. The specific ways in which any given service uses the information about the user's age are subject to their terms of use and privacy policies.

If you have enabled Fingerprint ID or Face Recognition on your device and you use them to log in to your HUAWEI ID, we will process information about whether the verification has been successful or not. We do not process or store your fingerprint or facial features.

If you use My addresses in HUAWEI ID, address information such as your name, country, province, city, district, town, street address, postcode, phone number, email address, and information about when the information was created and updated will be collected and processed.

If you use the Friends and contacts function, we will process the account and invitation information about your friends and contacts.

If you log in to HUAWEI ID with a non-Huawei account such as Google Account, the following data shall be obtained from the non-Huawei account provider:

If you visit the HUAWEI ID web portal, the following data shall be collected:

1.1 Which Permissions Are Required?

To provide you with the service, HUAWEI ID needs to access the Internet and requires the following permissions: Phone (to obtain device information, such as device identifiers), SMS (to obtain the verification code automatically), Storage and Camera (to upload or change your profile picture), Contacts (to add/invite or update contacts, such as friends and emergency contacts), and Camera (to enable friend invitation using QR code scanning). Please note that these permissions are necessary for the proper functioning of the service. If you do not grant the necessary permissions, we cannot provide the related feature or the feature might not work optimally. You can manage the permissions by going to Settings > Apps > Apps > HMS Core > Permissions on your device. The access path may vary depending on the system.

1.2 Is Your Data Collected Through Third-Party Technologies?

The only third-party SDK we use is Google Play SDK, which allows you log in with Google Account. Once you decide to log in with Google Account, your Google Account information listed above will be obtained from Google and linked with your HUAWEI ID. We do not provide or share any personal data to Google.

2 How Do We Use Your Data?

To perform our contract with you

We use your personal data in order to provide you with the HUAWEI ID service and to fulfil the contractual obligations, so that you can create and use your HUAWEI ID. This also requires us to process your data for customer relationship management, support and communication, conducting consumer surveys, customer complaint handling, maintenance, software and system updates, user identification as well as for problem diagnosis and fixing. For information on the processing of your personal data for customer support purposes, please read the Statement About Customer Support and Privacy.

You can use the Friends and contacts service (not available to Child account users) to invite and manage your friends and contacts. This service allows you to interact with other HUAWEI ID users in different services across the Huawei mobile ecosystem (such as HUAWEI Link Now) by chatting and making voice and video calls. Other HUAWEI ID users can also send friend requests to your HUAWEI ID. If you do not wish to receive friend requests, you can turn them off by accessing the settings screen for Friends and contacts. When you send a friend request or accept a friend request from a user, that user will be able to view your nickname, profile picture, country/region, and the email address or phone number you used to register your HUAWEI ID. When you send a request, we need to match the recipient's phone number, email address, or account information with their current HUAWEI ID. This is to ensure the request is sent correctly. We do not store any data used during this matching process. Please note that the Friends and contacts service is only available in limited versions of HUAWEI ID.

When you log in with your HUAWEI ID on different devices at the same time, we will use your HUAWEI ID and device information (such as device identifier) between different devices to build trusted and secure connections between those devices.

The aforementioned processing of your personal data is based on your contract with us.

Based on legitimate interests

We use your personal data for the following purposes based on our legitimate interests:

If you have enabled ads personalisation on your device, your gender and age information can be used for serving you more relevant ads on Huawei Mobile Services and third-party apps by the Petal Ads platform. For more information about Petal Ads and your rights, touch here.

- We may need your phone number already provided during the initial steps of HUAWEI ID account registration in order to safeguard HUAWEI ID accounts and our systems.

- We analyse how users interact with the touchscreen (e.g. how the screen is touched) and how the device is moving during account registration and login) in order to detect and prevent fraudulent account registration and login (e.g. an attacker using automatic software to register accounts). Such data is only processed on your device and is not stored on our servers.

- We check the content of your profile picture and nickname, and may prohibit content that is hateful, violent and/or extremist, pornographic and sexually explicit, cruel, racist, or discriminatory to prevent our users from seeing such content.

Based on your consent

We may send you electronic direct marketing, such as newsletters, promotions about new products, and information about user surveys and trials, by email, text message, multimedia message, and push notification when you have given your prior consent for such communications. The communications may include information about any Huawei products and services across all Huawei brands, which might be offered by our affiliated companies. You can withdraw your consent at any time by going to Settings > HUAWEI ID > Privacy centre > Configure Your Privacy Settings > Notifications on your device. You may also choose different communication channels based on your preferences from the same settings. Based on HUAWEI ID account age information, we will not send any electronic direct marketing messages to children.

If you add your address information to My addresses in HUAWEI ID, HUAWEI ID will make it available to different Huawei Mobile Services and third-party services you have logged in with your HUAWEI ID account and that need your contact information. This way, you don't need to input your contact information separately every time in each service. No data is shared automatically and separate authorisation is always requested for each service. If you do not give the information, it will not impact any other HUAWEI ID features. If you decide to give us false information, it will be shared with other services with your authorisation.

2.1 How Do We Safeguard Children?

A user who is identified as a child (as determined by local law) based on their date of birth must have a parent or guardian create a child account for them by going to HUAWEI ID > Personal info > Child accounts from parents or guardians HUAWEI ID. Once the parent or guardian has created a child account, the child will be able to log in to our apps and services, such as AppGallery and Huawei Health, as well as various third-party services.

3 How Long Do We Store Your Data?

We will retain your personal data for no longer than is necessary for the purposes defined in this Statement.
