1 What Data Do We Collect About You?
As part of Huawei Health, we shall collect and use your personal data only for the following purposes stated in this Statement. Personal data refers to any information that enables us to identify you as a user.
We will collect and process the following data:
Account information
HUAWEI ID account information: such as HUAWEI ID account identifier, profile picture, username, gender, and date of birth.
Personal profile information
Personal profile information: such as certain account details (gender and date of birth), height, weight, and app settings.
Your gender and date of birth are used for providing you with better exercise suggestions. Your height and weight are used to calculate and increase the accuracy of various health and fitness metrics. If you do not give such information, or decide to give us false information, our algorithms may calculate and provide inaccurate suggestions and metrics for you.
If you create a group or group event using the Groups feature, we will process the group information (such as group identifier, name, label, group picture, home country, user profile pictures, password, and creation and modification timestamps) and group event information (such as event identifier, name, type, goal type, goal value, and ranking type), along with your account identifier.
Huawei Health's friend invitation capabilities in Health Community are provided by the Friends and contacts feature of HUAWEI ID. When you send invitations, we need to match the invitee's phone number, email address, or account information with information about existing HUAWEI IDs, to allow for appropriate delivery of the invitation messages. We will not store any of the data used for this account matching process.
Other Health Community users will be able to see your nickname and profile picture and send invitations to add you as a friend using your email address, phone number, or account identifier if you have enabled the Friends and contacts feature in HUAWEI ID. When you send invitations to others, they will be able to identify you by your nickname, profile picture, and the email address or phone number that you used for registering your HUAWEI ID.

Additionally, the photos you select will be accessed from your device and transmitted to the watch face of your wearable device for display. These photos will be stored locally only and will not be processed or stored on our servers. This feature requires the StorageMedia and files) and/or Camera permissions.
Huawei Health may send you different push notifications (e.g. about steps count, daily targets, sleep reports, health tips, etc.). You can manage such notifications from Me > Settings > Notification management. In addition, we need to access the list of apps installed on your device to enable you to manage which of these apps may have their messages displayed on your wearable device. This app installation information is neither processed nor stored on our servers.
1.2 Is Your Data Collected Through Third-Party Technologies?
There are no third-party technologies, such as SDKs, integrated with the app that enable remote access and processing of your data by any third parties, whether acting on their own or on our behalf.
2 How Do We Use Your Data?
To perform our contract with you
To provide you with Huawei Health functions and fulfil contractual obligations, this app must collect and process your data for customer relationship management, maintenance, software and system updates, user identification, and diagnostic and repair purposes. If you have the capacity to enter into an enforceable contract, the aforementioned processing of your personal data is based on your contract with us. You can find the User Agreement by going to Me > About > Huawei Health User Agreement in the app. This purpose requires processing of your HUAWEI ID accountdevice and network, and service usage information. Your personal profile and fitness and health data shall be uploaded to Huawei Health cloud only after you give your explicit consent in the app. For information on processing of your personal data for customer support purposes, please read the Statement About Customer Support and Privacy
Based on your consent
Where we process your personal data on the basis of consent as described in this section, you may withdraw your consent at any time in accordance with Section 5.5, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
Syncing fitness and health data to the cloud
Your personal profile and fitness and health data, which includes sensitive information about you, shall be uploaded to Huawei Health cloud only after you give your explicit consent in the app. You can go to Me > Privacy management in the app at any time to erase the data from the cloud (see Section 5.4) and/or cease further collection and processing (see Section 5.5). When you sync data to the cloud, we will not process your fitness and health data for any other purposes than storing it in the cloud and making it available for viewing and analysis from your mobile device, and for providing additional Huawei Health features you have explicitly consented to. To help you analyse your data over time, we will calculate e.g. different trends from the data you have synced to cloud and visualise those trends in the app. Additionally, we will calculate insights through statistical correlation analysis of data such as sleep patterns, heart rate, stress level, step count, and activity records. For example, this analysis may suggest that improved sleep quality could result from a reduction in stress level. We also calculate composite metrics using the data you have synced to the cloud. For example, Physical Readiness is derived from your sleep quality, overnight heart rate and HRV, stress level, and activity data by comparing your daily values against your own historical baseline. You can find such metrics, trends, and insights from, for example, the Health insights section of the app.
Health Service Kit
Health Service Kit is a fitness and health data platform service that allows you to manage and share your data across different services. When Health Service Kit is enabled in the Huawei Health app, your personal profile information, and fitness and health data in the Huawei Health app is accessed, uploaded to the Health Service Kit cloud, and made available for authorised apps to access and modify with your consent. For more information about how Health Service Kit processes your data, please read the Statement About Health Service Kit and Privacy
Apple Health
On iOS devices, you can authorise the Huawei Health app to read data from and write data to Apple Health. You can also choose which specific data categories to include in your authorisation (for example, Active Energy, Blood Oxygen, Body Fat Percentage, and Body Mass Index). You can change your authorisation settings by opening Apple Health, touching your profile picture, and going to Privacy > Apps and Services > Huawei Health
Fitness and health data sharing
Huawei Health supports sharing of fitness and health data with other Huawei health and fitness apps (such as Arterial stiffness detection, Sleep apnoea test, Pulse wave arrhythmia analysis, and ECG) and third-party health and fitness apps. Such data sharing is conducted only based on your prior authorisation. If you enable the cloud syncing, the data from that app will be automatically synced to the Huawei Health cloud. You can adjust your data sharing settings by going to Me > Privacy management > Data sharing and authorisation
Huawei Health app activities and challenges
If you take part in different activities and challenges in Huawei Health, we need to process your health and fitness data (such as daily steps, workouts, calories, and sleep time, depending on the challenge) to calculate your results and achievements. In addition, your score (for example, run time or total running distance) and HUAWEI ID profile information (including your profile picture, nickname, and/or masked HUAWEI ID email or phone number) will be visible to all participants in the leaderboard. For us to calculate your results and achievements, syncing your fitness and health data to cloud may be a prerequisite for participating in such activities and challenges.
Personalised fitness plans
If you create a personalised fitness plan, we will process your profile data (such as gender, age, height and weight), fitness data as well as your fitness plan and analysis data (such as workout records from the past month and best workout performance from the past six months, target result, plan progress and periodic training plan report) with your consent for the purpose of creating you a personalised fitness plan. You may withdraw your consent any time by ending the plan and removing your fitness data from the cloud as described in Section 5.5
Event Assistant
Event Assistant is a one-stop race management centre. You can add official marathon events or create custom races, sync them to your watch, and set distances and target times.
Event Assistant processes the following information:
Race information: such as race search input, selected event name, location, time, distance, target performance, and route.
Location information: Your approximate location is used to recommend nearby events when you have granted location access for the Huawei Health app (requested separately). If you have not granted location access, you can still search for races manually. Location information used by Event Assistant is not stored on our servers.
You can disable Event Assistant at any time, as described in Section 5.5
Stay Fit Plan
Stay Fit Plan provides personalised training programmes and dietary analysis based on the principle of calorie deficits for users managing their weight.
Stay Fit Plan processes the following information:
Health information: This includes resting heart rate, sleep duration, sleep onset time, self-reported discomforts/injuries, and menstrual cycle data. These metrics help determine training recommendations that match your current physiological state. Body composition indicators such as weight, body mass index, body fat level, visceral fat level, and body shape are also processed to track your progress over time.
Basic personal information: date of birth, age, sex, weight, and height. Weight and height information is mandatory as it'll be used to determine your body mass index so as to provide safe, suitable workout courses for you along with effective tips. In addition, your age and sex are used to ensure better training results throughout the programme. If this information is inaccurate, the algorithm might not provide workout courses or tips accurate to you and that may increase your risk of injury.
Fitness information: workout duration, workout type, and calories burnt.
Location information: Your location information is used to assess weather, temperature, humidity, and UV index data when you have granted location access for the Huawei Health app (granted separately), allowing workouts to be tailored to your environmental conditions. You can still use this feature even if you don't grant location access, but the suggestions might be less optimal. Location information won't be stored on our servers.
Diet information: You can log details such as meal type, food name, consumed amount, and calorie content to track your dietary intake.
Your preferences: You can specify your preferred calorie deficit, workout duration, available exercise equipment, and target body areas so the programme can be tailored to your personal requirements.
You may disable Stay Fit Plan at any time, as described in Section 5.5
Smart Training Plan
Smart Training Plan is a personalised, dynamic training system built on sports science and individual data. It intelligently creates, analyses, and adjusts training programmes by integrating diverse data and conditions.
Smart Training Plan processes the following information:
Health information: including heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep data, breathing data, stress levels, blood oxygen, body fat percentage, and menstrual cycle data.
Fitness information: including speed, workout heart rate, workout duration, workout route, workout distance and ascent, workout performance, cadence, workout type, calories, workout status (such as running ability index, training load, and recovery time), running form data, VO2max, personal preferences, other fitness data, and fitness courses and plans.
Basic profile information: including date of birth, sex, weight, and height. Weight and height information is mandatory as it'll be used to determine your body mass index so as to provide safe, suitable workout courses for you along with effective fitness tips. In addition, your age and sex are used to ensure better training results throughout the programme. If this information is inaccurate, the algorithm might not provide workout courses or fitness tips accurate to you and that may increase your risk of injury.
Location information: Your location information is used to assess weather, temperature, humidity, and UV index data when you have granted location access for the Huawei Health app (granted separately). You can still use this feature even if you don't grant location access, but results might be less accurate. Location information won't be stored on our servers. Elevation information will also be used to assess fitness adaptation.
Event information: including event name, location, time, distance, and goal performance.
You may disable Smart Training Plan at any time, as described in Section 5.5
Health Clovers
If you enable a plan in the Health Clovers service in Huawei Health, we will process your completed tasks and type of task as well as personal profile and health and fitness data (such as step count, workout data, sleeping records, daily smiles, daily water consumption, and breathing exercises, depending on the tasks you complete) with your consent for the purpose of providing the service and giving you advice on healthy living habits. You may withdraw your consent any time by disabling Health Clovers service as described in Section 5.5
Safety Check
Safety Check allows users to share their location, health information, and other data with trusted safety contacts. It consists of a watch-side app and features in the Huawei Health app that together enable the sharing and monitoring of Safety Check data. Huawei Health allows users to manage their own safety contacts, manage their role as a safety contact for others, and view authorised data. The watch app separately enables users to select which data they wish to share with their safety contacts.
Safety Check requires the following information:
Safety contact information: This includes the HUAWEI ID identifier, nickname, phone number, and the safety contact relationship between users. A user may have their data processed as a safety contact only after accepting an invitation. The invitation is sent using a phone number, which must be associated with a HUAWEI ID account. Safety contacts are created in Huawei Health. You can revoke your role as a safety contact, as well as manage your own safety contacts, as described in Section 5.5
Authorised data: Safety Check enables the sharing of location, heart rate, GPS signal strength, battery level, wearing status, and other watch-generated data. Authorisation for sharing is managed through the Safety Check app on the watch. Authorised data is synced to Health servers so it can appear in Huawei Health for selected contacts. The data is stored for thirty-one (31) days. You can disable Safety Check at any time on your watch by going to Safety check > About > Deactivate service. When deactivated, we will stop syncing your Safety Check data to our servers and to your safety contacts. You can also delete all authorised data from our servers at any time by going to Me > Privacy management > Clear all personal data from cloud
Health Community
If you use Health Community, you may share your personal profile and health and fitness data to your friend or family member. Your personal data may be shared only if you send or receive a friend invitation and consent to sharing your selected data items to your friend or family member.
My groups
If you use the Groups feature and participate in a group, you'll automatically be included in the group's activity rankings based on your steps, workout duration, and total distance covered. Also, if you participate in a group event, you'll be included in the event-specific activity rankings. These may be based on steps, total distance, pace, workout duration, cycling power, or moderate- and high-intensity activity duration, depending on the event type. Your ranking data will be visible to other members, along with your nickname and profile picture. You can update your nickname and profile picture in accordance with Section 5.2. To be included in group and group activity rankings, you must enable cloud sync for fitness data by going to Me > Privacy management and enabling Sync fitness data to cloud. You can leave any group you have joined in the Groups feature by going to Me > My groups, finding the group and opening its homepage, selecting Settings from the upper right corner, and selecting Leave group. If you leave a group or event or if it is deleted by the creator, the ranking data will be erased.
If you consent to Location sharing during a group event, other event participants will be able to see the precise real-time location of your mobile device along with your nickname and profile picture. You can also participate in any event and appear in the rankings without sharing your location. You can stop sharing anytime by touching the Close button for location sharing in the group event view. If you stop sharing in the middle of an event, other members will be able to see your last known location until the event ends or you leave the event. Once you leave the event or it ends, your location data will no longer be visible to anyone. Please note that starting or stopping location sharing from outside your home or another identifiable place may allow others to infer personal details, such as your residence or workout routine. If you want to reduce identifiability, consider using a generic nickname and a non-personal profile picture. You can update your nickname and profile picture in accordance with Section 5.2
Marketing campaigns
If you participate in marketing campaigns in Huawei Health, such as lotteries or lucky draws, we will process your participation records and the winner's contact information in accordance with the specific terms and conditions applicable to such campaigns.
Analysis and improvement
If you have enabled the Analysis and improvement feature and contributed with your data to help us improve Health app and your user experience, we will access and use data for:
App improvement: Account details (e.g., age and gender), network data (like IP address), device type, and app usage patterns (such as screens viewed, buttons touched, features enabled or disabled, and operation frequency) are used to measure traffic and usage trends to help us understand how our users use and interact with the service and support ongoing improvements. This data will be also used to provide Personalised recommendations, if you have separately consented to it.
Creating workout routes: Location data from your outdoor workouts, along with average speed, pace, and elapsed time (relative timestamp from workout start) is used to identify routes that are frequently followed. These popular routes may be turned into workouts that are readily available to all users. Each route will be manually reviewed before published in the Huawei Health app. No specific user can be identified from the created routes and the routes are created by aggregating your de-identified data with other users' data. For your data to be included, you must also have enabled cloud sync for fitness data by going to Me > Privacy management and enabling Sync fitness data to cloud
You can withdraw your consent to the processing for Analysis and improvement as described in Section 5.5 below.
Personalised recommendations
When the Personalised recommendations feature is enabled, your Huawei Health app experience is tailored to provide content—such as articles, activities, deals, and offers—based on your predicted preferences. To achieve this, we create and use segments, which are groups of users with similar estimated interests and characteristics, to determine the content shown to you. For example, if you frequently engage in running workouts, we may predict your interest in running-related content, such as articles.
By analysing user preferences, we aim to offer products and services that better align with individual needs and expectations, enhancing the user experience while supporting our business objectives through more relevant offerings.
To personalise content, we utilise account information (such as account identifier, age, and sex), device details (such as mobile and wearable device models), and app usage data (such as screens viewed, buttons interacted with, features enabled or disabled, and usage frequency). Health data and specific workout data, including details of individual exercise sessions or performance metrics, are not used in this process.
The Personalised recommendations feature is only available if you have consented to the use of your data for Analysis and improvement purposes (see above). If you prefer not to have your data used for this purpose, you can withdraw your consent to Personalised recommendations as explained in Section 5.5 below. If this feature is disabled, the same amount of content will be provided; however, it may be less relevant to you, as it will be based on general interests rather than personalised insights.
Consent records
Please note that your consent preferences are linked to your HUAWEI ID. As a result, any version of the Huawei Health app accessed using the same HUAWEI ID may automatically apply your previously selected consent settings. For instance, if you uninstall and reinstall the app, your consent status will remain consistent with the choices you made earlier.
Based on legitimate interests
Information security and fraud prevention. We use your personal data for information security purposes and to detect or prevent various types of misuse of services and frauds based on our legitimate interest in order to provide you with secure and reliable services. This purpose requires processing of your HUAWEI ID accountpersonal profiledevice and network, and service usage information
Service provision for younger users. If you have a limited ability to enter into an enforceable contract (for example, if you are below the age of majority and the law in your country does not permit you to enter into enforceable contracts), we may not be able to process your personal data on the basis of performing a contract with you. In such cases, we rely on legitimate interests to provide you with the Huawei Health service, including customer relationship management, maintenance, software and system updates, user identification, and diagnostic and repair purposes. Such processing is necessary for us to pursue our business interests in providing, supporting, and maintaining Huawei Health for users who cannot enter into an enforceable contract. This also serves the legitimate interests of our users in being able to use Huawei Health and embark on their personal fitness and health journey. This purpose requires processing of your HUAWEI ID accountdevice and network, and service usage information. Your personal profile and fitness and health data shall be uploaded to Huawei Health cloud only after you give your explicit consent in the app.
To comply with legal obligations
We will process your comments in Health Community based on legal requirement, in order to efficiently identify and remove harmful content and language from the comments before they are made available to your friends in Health Community.
2.1 How Do We Safeguard Children?
Children are allowed to use Huawei Health by logging in with their HUAWEI ID child account ("child account") created by their parent or guardian. When a user logs in with a child account, and as a result is identified as a child user, Huawei Health provides different safeguards to ensure age-appropriate data processing and content:
Parents or guardians need to explicitly consent to the processing of personal profile and health and fitness data of a child account user in Huawei Health when the service is accessed for the first time.
In order to protect children from any harm caused by advertising, we do not use children as a specific target group for any marketing activities.
Child account users cannot sync and share their fitness and health data in Huawei Health with third-party services.
NOTE: If a child is using our services without being logged in with a child account, we are not capable of providing the child related safeguards provided by the service. We encourage all parents and guardians to create a child account for their child before they are allowed to start using any HMS apps or services. If a child is allowed to use Huawei Health without a child account, it is to be done under sole supervision of the parent or guardian.
3 How Long Do We Store Your Data?
We will retain your personal data for no longer than is necessary for the purposes defined in this Statement.
We will process and retain your data for the duration of the customer relationship. Your personal profile and health and fitness data, which you have synced to Huawei Health cloud, will be stored as long as you do not erase it.
We shall retain data as follows:
Personal data processed for contract management purposes will be retained for up to three (3) years after your HUAWEI ID is deleted.
Order information will be retained for seven (7) years from the date the transaction was made.
Personal data that is used for analytics and improvement purposes as well as for personalised recommendations will be retained for up to twelve (12) months from the date of collection, unless you have withdrawn your consent to such processing. The network data used for improving your network connection experience will be retained for no longer than seven (7) days.
Personal data processed for feedback to be submitted by you through the Huawei Health app will be retained for six (6) months.
Ranking data in the Groups feature will be retained until the group event is closed or you leave the group, unless the group or group event is deleted by the creator, in which case the data will be erased immediately.
Safety Check information you have authorised to be shared with your safety contacts will be retained for thirty-one (31) days from collection.
The de-identified location data from your outdoor workouts along with average speed, pace, and elapsed time (relative timestamp from workout start) will be kept for six (6) months after collection to identify and generate popular workout routes.
Information about invitations sent via the HUAWEI ID Friends and contacts feature will be retained until you delete your HUAWEI ID account.
Data backups and app logs processed to ensure the security of your data and services will be retained for up to six (6) months from the date of creation.
Once the retention period expires, we will delete or anonymise your personal data in due time, unless otherwise required by applicable laws and regulations.
4 How Do We Share Your Data?
Data sharing with third-party apps
Huawei Health supports sharing of fitness and health data with third-party health and fitness apps. Such data sharing is conducted only based on your prior authorisation.
